If you’re interested in being a guest editor of This Week in Genesis (the weekly, Genesis WordPress update published on this website (almost) every Sunday), please fill out the form below.
You’ll be subscribed to a dedicated email list where I send out updates and notifications when a slot (or slots) are free for guest editing a future edition.
And don’t worry, should you receive the almighty honour or being a guest editor, full instructions will be provided!
Why be a guest editor?
- Reach hundreds of awesome Genesis fans with your article
- Have your say on what deserves the most love in the Genesis community that week
- Get more known in the Genesis community
- See your name in lights (plus a two line bio linking to your business or whatever) at the end of the article
- The satisfaction of working for love, not money
Want to know more? See the FAQs below! Otherwise you can apply now via the form below.
(One small disclaimer, although I want to involve as many voices from the community as possible, being on the email list does not guarantee a guest editing opportunity!).
Can I write about whatever I want?
Yes, as long as it’s about Genesis WordPress and happened since the last edition. All I ask is you follow the regular format of the updates as people are used to that. What you write about within that format is up to you.
Do I have to write about positive things?
GenesisWP.guide is an independent publication and as such we’ll write about whatever we like! That said, the mission of GenesisWP.guide is:
To bring more attention to the finest creators of Genesis related products and services.
It’s not for gossip or to run people down. It is meant to be a light hearted and encouraging platform for those doing great work with or around Genesis.
How much work is involved?
It takes me about an hour these days to scan for new stuff and write everything up. However you want to do it and how long you want to spend on it is entirely up to you though. (Of course, if you’re hanging out in one or more of the Genesis online communities throughout the week you’ll be picking up news and information you can use in the update anyway).
Are there instructions / a style guide to help?
Yes, absolutely, I’ll send you a Google Doc that will help you put it all together.
When do I have to submit my draft by?
You can write your draft in whatever software you prefer but you’ll need to add your final version of the update (including links, any embedded tweets etc) to this website by the end of the day on Saturday (the day before the update). (You’ll be given a login to do so).
Will you edit my stuff?
Yes, I may do a final quick edit for style, content or any other reasons on Sunday morning.
I may also change the running order or add something if a big Genesis story happened overnight.
Can I guest edit more than one edition?
